First edition. Two volume set. Red cloth. xvii, 550; 641 pp. 30 pp. publishers catalogue tipped in at rear of volume I. Volume I with frontispiece portrait of Jackson and one other portrait. Numerous other maps in both volumes, including a large folding map at rear of volume I. All maps listed are present.

Rubbing, soiling, and wear to exteriors, with spines darkened, and some fraying to cloth at spine ends. Spines cocked. Hinges tender in both volumes. Volume I with evidence of a removed bookplate to front pastedown. Toning to page edges. Light foxing to page edges, and scattered foxing to interiors, including some foxing/toning at the gutters. There seems to be a blank leaf missing between the front endpaper and half title of volume II, leaving the gutter exposed. Folding map at rear of volume I with some flaking at the fore-edges, and a closed tear where it is attached to the textblock. Some of the other maps have been poorly folded or have minor stress creases.
