Description:Very scarce book containing three stories about Nihilists, by John Baker Hopkins, the Lead Writer for the magazine The London Figaro. The Nihilists were an international terrorist group most active in Russia, where they assassinated Tsar Alexander II in 1881. Hopkins was an early foe of the Group, and amongst the first to use the term "Nihilists". The great Nihilist scare came later in the 1880s.

Fine half calf binding, Raised decorative gilt bands to spine. Original marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. 137 pages. In very pleasing condition, with a little fading to the edges and light scuffing to the corners and spine-ends (see pictures). Internally, the book has some light browning to some leaves, and is clean and bright (see picture). Small neat ownership signature of David Bustan to second free endpaper. Binding sound and square. A very nice finely-bound copy of this very scarce book.
